Description
This is a Panhandle and Santa Fe Railway Dressel switch lamp. This is one of several lanterns from the estate of Ray Canole, a well-known collector and restorer of railroad lanterns from Michigan. He has done exquisite restorations for many years. This lantern is in like new condition. Has two green lenses, surrounded by green porcelain targets, and two amber lenses, that are also like new, without cracks. Excellent paint. Top of chimney has bends on two sides and was left as such to maintain the state of the lantern as-is. Correct inner chimney, brass burner, and Dressel fount. P. & S.F. RY . Is on the welded tag on the lower front of the lamp. All hinges and clips open properly. A very rare, outstanding piece! The P&SF was an operating subsidiary of the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe, and was chartered as the Southern Kansas Railway Company in 1886. It became the P&SF in 1914, and was merged into the Santa Fe in 1965. Items from this railroad are hard to find and very desirable!
