Description
Shandy McGuire, the pen name for Patrick Pennell, was a locomotive engineer who lived from 1842 to 1917, and as a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, he wrote poetry of both a serious and humorous nature. In this promotional piece, he hailed the benefits of the Brotherhood Locomotive Seat, manufactured by Standard and White in Appleton, Wisconsin. While the piece does not have a date, Pennell worked for the Ontario and Western, and we can assume the piece dates between the 1860s and early 1900s, based on his time of service. Printed in Neenah, Wisconsin. Additional writings are on the back side of the piece.
