Description
A very similar piece sold through Crocker Farm has this attributed to John P. Schermerhorn of Richmond, VA circa 1830. Approximately 3 gallon. Heavily tooled shoulder, applied lug handles. Two sides decorated in cobalt flowering vine design. Dabs of blue on either side of each handle. Severe chip to lip rim, flaking to some of the cobalt, 1 inch potstone chip to side. The bottom third of the crock has radiating hairline cracks all the way around, a few radiate to the base, some rough spots on the body, as well. Approximately 11 inches at the widest x 14.5 inches tall.
