Description
18th century. Example having a steel dovetailed head into a brass body with sgraffito incised body. The head of the handle where it fits into the brass has a very thin piece of deer or bison membrane to separate the wood from the brass and secure the mount. The handle is likely a 19th century replacement but possibly earlier. This piece boasts an excellent patina throughout.
