Description
Presented here for your consideration is 1920s to 1940s Pima basket with whirling fret design. This traditional fret design Pima basket was tightly woven and maintains that integrity despite its age. The design is laid out in bold brown and sand colors. An excellent example of the Pima weavers' skill. The Pima (Akimel O'Odham), who reside in central and southern Arizona, produced magnificent baskets with meaningful designs and patterns. Their finely-coiled baskets are made of cattail or bear grass foundation and closely stitched with willow and devil's claw (for designs). They are some of the most sought after of the Southwestern baskets by collectors. Add this to your collection today!
