This MAGNIFICENT cotton 1890's - 1910's multicolor "hills and valleys" quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with postage stamp pieces measuring just over 1.5" per side.
It measures 66" X 72" and is good condition, with some age staining and subtle color migration from the red (all of this is most visible from the back). There is also one tiny hole in a red piece.
The hand quilting is excellent, with quilting around the piecework and in flower petal, straight line, and feathered designs in the background, all at an even 8-9 stitches to the inch.
The back is white, the hand stitched binding is a pink print, and the batting is thin. The quilt came out of the Akron, Ohio area.
The VIBRANT COLORS and UNUSUAL DESIGN make this turn of the century COLLECTOR'S QUILT stand out -- it would make a terrific wall hanging!
