Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Jiaqing Flowers of the Four Seasons vase. Potted with a wide bulbous lower belly, the globular body with rounded shoulder, tall cylindrical neck further to flared rim, raised on concaved foot base. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in iron-red underglaze base color which contrast against the famille rose design color. Famille rose hand painting depicted vividly hand painted in enamel design, famille rose translates to the pink family, on a colored ground decoration. Each bulging sides enclosing colorful falangcai, famille rose on a colored ground decoration, of Bajixiang. The main body adorned with various flowers blooms called Flowers of the Four Seasons, interspersed with scrolling tendril and foliage, enclosed with scrolling ruyi clouds on the shoulder. The Neck rim decorated with four flowers blooms among scrolling tendril, enclosed with trashing Lishui wavy and repeating taotie mask with thick gilt rings lines. Flowers of the Four Seasons : In the Chinese culture, specific flowers represent the seasons. winter: Plum Blossom, Spring: Peony, Summer: Lotus, Fall: Chrysanthemum. The health and condition of the flower also conveys meaning in the Chinese culture. The Lines of the drawings are clear, the light and dark shades are subtle. The colors are harmonious, elegant and exquisite, the composition is sophisticated, simply a feast for the eye. This inadvertently gave texture, energy, and shading to the design. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman. Mark on under base, a six underglaze red seal script characters reign mark, Jiaqing Reign Period of Great Qing.
