English Early Victorian shelf clock with musical maritime automaton

Item Details

Description

19th century. Case in two parts with some minor splits and imperfections. A couple modern screws have been added to the underside and the movement has been replaced with a later Reuge music box movement. The mechanical elements have not been evaluated, we do not know if it runs or functions or is complete. There are losses to the waves in the automaton environment. Old paper label on underside reads in part "Musique a 2". Height 19 3/4 inches by overall width 13 inches.
