Vintage aluminum bus stop sign from the early days of Chicago's CTA, which began service in 1947. This particular sign is for the #28 Stony Island Ave. route, which services one of the largest streets on Chicago's South Side. Cosmetically, this sign has lost much of the text on its lower half, having been covered with newspaper for an unknown amount of time. The top half, however, remains legible; although it does exhibit some weathering and scratches, which is to be expected given the environment in which it was used.
