Description
A collection of ancient beads from Burma. Ca. 800 BC to 200 AD. A total of 11 items made of palmwood. Seven round striped pumtek beads. Three elongated striped and one square pyu beads. The word pumtek means buried thunderbolt which is a reference to the lines and zigzags etched onto the beads. Pyu beads are said to have represented military rank.
