Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Byzantine Empire, ca. 11th to 15th century CE. A gorgeous and wearable glass bracelet of annular form boasting opaque hues of teal, orange, white, and deep blue all arranged in abstract linear designs. Skillfully formed from canes of glass, this bangle would have once adorned the wrist of an elite lady of the Byzantine Empire! Size: 3.6" Exterior Diameter x 0.2" W (9.1 cm x 0.5 cm); 2.7" Interior Diameter (6.9 cm)
Exhibited in "Ancient Glass: Selections from the Richard Brockway Collection" at the Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University, Salem from March 10 to May 19, 2007 and "Glass of the Ancient World" at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, Florida from October 11 to December 28, 2008.
