Ca. AD 400-500.A military marble basin featuring a deep, slightly tapering profile and a smooth, polished centre. The external walls are adorned with engraved vegetal motifs surrounding a roundel, with a cross in the upper section and a smaller roundel with a monogram in the central part. Four eagle figures are arranged around the external walls. Each bird is perched on a protruding stone element at the bottom of the basin. with talons firmly gripping the ground. The body of each bird is muscular and well-formed, with wings folded to the side and naturalistic feathers covering the torso and entire body. The heads are uplifted, with bulging eyes and sharp beaks. Item comes with a professional historical report from Ancient Report Specialists.
