CARTIER: AN ART DECO GOLD, SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND MOUNTED COMPACT C. 1936
the antique, early 20th century 9ct gold compact of very large size, inside bearing various open and closed compartments and a retracting lipstick, the top lid mounted with a sliding push-button, set with brilliant cut diamonds and square cut sapphires, all sides are engraved with reeded design, remnant of the period. The inside of the cover is set with a mirror and comes with its original, but rather worn Cartier gift case, hallmarked English 9k gold (375 standard), London, year 1936 (A), J.C (Jacques Cartier, Mansfield st, London).
