NOTE: Andy Kay was born in Queens, New York in 1948, after trips abroad he studied Chan/Zen ink painting with celebrated teacher Ho Tit-wah; after work in the Ballet in Germany he rejoined Ho in Hawaii producing work exhibited at the National Gallery, Beijing and Museums in Hangzhou and Guangzhou where, to his amazement, he was asked by the Chinese to give classes in Chinese Traditional Ink Painting to those Chinese bereft of teachers after the Cultural Revolution. NEA sponsored exhibitions followed as well as Galleries including Nina Goodman's Gallery in Bergdorf Goodman and a long association with the Robyn Buntin Gallery of Honolulu. Meanwhile Andy remained in constant demand in the United States and Europe for his Chinese Ink Painting seminars right up to his death in 2022 and counts numerous students as well as art connoisseurs as friends and patrons.
