mid 19th century, fiddle and thread handles, both handles inscribed "American Institute/to Wm. L. Ferris,/for the best/30 varieties of Pears./1871." and one with initials on back of handle, marks for Kidney & Johnson (New York, NY, working 1868-1874), 3.61 oz. T., 8-5/8 in.
