Description
George Jacob Hunzinger (German-American, 1835-1898). American Victorian folding parlor chair in walnut with original upholstery. Original carved crest is missing from top of chair. "HUNZINGER PAT MAY 18TH 1873" impressed into wood of chair's left leg. Tears, staining, fraying and wear throughout upholstery. Marks, scuffs, scratches, stains and wear throughout wood of chair. A copy of "The Furniture of George Hunzinger: Invention and Innovation in Nineteenth-Century America" by Barry R. Harwood is provided with this chair, with examples of it appearing on pages 10 and 47.
