Description
"Prospect Point Niagara Falls" vintage travel souvenir, porcelain plate with the mark of Heinrich, Selb, Bavaria, Germany Porcelain Company overprinted with crowned "N Co U.S. Zone."; 1940s
Apparently, the porcelain plate was created by Heinrich, one of the largest German porcelain manufactures in the first half of the 20th century, and decorated by another company. The crowned 'N' mark was applied by numerous factories in Saxony and Thuringia owned by the Uffrecht of Neuhaldensleben Company.
The plate is 6.1/4" [16cm] across; no chips, no hairlines, very good condition.
Based on the new research, many other companies in Saxony and Thuringia also applied crowned N mark after the WWII during the US occupation. This area, Saxony and Thuringia, was occupied by the US Forces from April through July 1945. In this period, the territory was governed by the provisional US military administration. According to the Jalta Agreement, this territory belonged to the Soviet occupational zone, therefore, In July 1945, US Army retreated to the borders of their agreed zone, and gave control to the Soviet administration. In Bavaria, "US Zone" mark was applied 1945-1949.
