Description
Lot of 2 'captive Israel' bronze medals, published by Israel Coins and Medals Corp., a decade of Israel's freedom - 1958. The face of the medal - in the center, as a symbol of "liberated Israel" - a farmer planting a tree, a woman joyfully lifting her child, a date palm tree with seven palms and two clusters of fruit. On the rim around, the inscription "A Decade for the Israeli Independence 1958" and the sentence in Latin "Israel Liberata" (liberated Israel).
The back of the medal - a copy of a Roman coin minted on the occasion of the conquest of Jerusalem by Vespasian in 70 AD. On the left is Vespasian as a victor, and on the right - a mourning Hebrew woman sitting under a date palm tree that symbolizes Judea. On the rim of the Roman coin there is an inscription in Latin "Judea Capta" (Judas the Captive), and below
Two Roman letters that are the initials of the words "By order of the Senate". On the edge of the medal - a chain symbolizing captivity and a Hebrew inscription "Galta Yehuda" (Judea went on exile). Diameter: 60 mm.
