Description
An old brass Indian oil lamp, early 20th century (possibly even earlier), handcrafted in the "lost wax" technique practiced mainly in Orissa and West Bengal by the local artists/tribes. In this technique the melted wax is poured into the desired clay mold and when the wax melts the clay breaks and we get the desired metal object which is further polished to perfection. At the top of the lamp is a figurine of a peacock, height: 20.5 cm, width: 17 cm, weight: 754 gr. Patina of age.
