Elliott Erwitt is an American photographer born in Paris, France in 1928. He is best known for his humorous and candid black and white photographs, which often feature everyday moments and people.Erwitt's interest in photography began when he was a teenager, and he eventually studied photography and filmmaking at the New School for Social Research in New York City. He began his career as a photographer in the 1950s, working for magazines such as Life and Look. Over the years, he has photographed numerous celebrities, politicians, and other notable figures, including Marilyn Monroe, Che Guevara, and John F. Kennedy.Erwitt has published over 20 books of his photography, including "Personal Best" and "Dog Dogs," the latter of which features his photographs of dogs. He has also worked as a filmmaker, creating documentaries and commercials for clients such as IBM and Puerto Rico Tourism.Throughout his career, Erwitt has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Center of Photography in New York City. His photographs are held in the collections of major museums throughout the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
