Description
Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Amlash culture, ca. late 3rd to early 2nd millennium BCE. A tall and substantive pottery pitcher exhibiting a tall piriform body, a corseted necklace, a thick strap handle, and a conical spout rising off the front. A thin joint of pottery spans the gap between the spout and rim, perhaps for use as an additional handle when pouring. The burnt orange exterior hue is complemented by horizontal, russet-hued rings that create a personalized presentation. Size: 8.125" L x 6.7" W x 8.8" H (20.6 cm x 17 cm x 22.4 cm)
This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report will accompany the item upon purchase.
Provenance: Private Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA collection, via inheritance; Leota Furlong Agett Persian Pottery collection, acquired in Tehran, Iran in the early 1960s

Condition
Light abrasions and pitting, with fading to pigment in scattered areas, and light earthen deposits mostly within interior, otherwise intact and excellent. Wonderful preservation to overall form. TL drill holes along base and beneath rim.
