Possibly French, scratch carved date 1839, walnut. Removable molded cornice, fire panel ends and front with carved vining grapes and bird border, three panel doors upper with monstrance like carving. Center with birds and rosettes and lowerwith urn of flowers, two lower panels and skirt with floral carving. Interspersed throughout are brass tack decoration. Steel pin hinges, escutcheons and lock appear to be original. Interior wood shelves. Refinished with some age splits and some wear. 80"h. 55.75"w. 28.5"d. Thought to be an earlier cupboard given as a marriage gift in 1839, and dated at that time.
