Description
1st item: Sixth plate ambrotype portrait of an unidentified Creole lady, in fashionable dress with hand tinted gilt/gouche jewelry accents. Velvet lined gutta percha union case. 2nd item: Handmade dovetailed copper cup or mug with squared handle and flared foot ring, 4 7/8"H. This cup descended in the Domingue family, members of which had been slaves on Bayou Teche, Louisiana, near Franklin at Irish Bend (site of the combined land/naval confrontation between Kentucky CSA General Richard Taylor and Union General Grover on April 14, 1865). Mug purchased by the consignor from George O'Melia, who acquired it while working as a teacher in Louisiana.

1st item: separation to spine of case. Photograph in very good condition with some light discoloration around perimeter. 2nd item: As found condition with significant denting and wear.
