Description
Wayne Beam Morrell was born in Clementon, New Jersey in 1923. He was a painter of landscapes. He studied at the Philadelphia School of Industrial Art and at the Drexel Institute. He exhibited quite often at major American venues, including: National Academy of Design; Rockport Art Association (1972); Allied Artists of America, New York (1972); and Expos Intercontinentale, Monaco, France. He received numerous awards, including: Jane Peterson Prize (1969) and Council of American Artists Societies Award (1971), Allied Artists of America; and Gold Medal, Rockport Art Association (1970). Morrell was a member of: Allied Artists of America (jury member, 1972); Springfield Academy Artists (council, 1960-61); Salmagundi Club; and Rockport Art Association. Besides exhibiting his art at major venues, Morrell was also an Art Director at John Oldham Studios, CT (1958-61) and a designer at both the Paris and Brussels World Fairs.
