Description
This beautiful jasperware sugar bowl exhibits WEDGWOOD's rare crimson hue. Crafted in the classical taste, the piece is adorned with white classical figures applied in relief, a motif which is considered to be Wedgwood's trademark. Jasperware is one of Wedgwood's crowning achievements and is highly acclaimed for revolutionizing ceramic art. Crimson jasper pieces are among the rarest of all jasper dip wares since this color was only used for a short period of time. Very good antique condition; no chips, cracks, or repairs. Marked "Wedgwood Made in England." Measures approx. 4" x 4" x 3.5". Provenance: From the collection of the late MASSIMO COMOLI, celebrated opera set designer and architect, best known for working with the late Gianni Versace on the redesign of the iconic Villa Casa Casuarina in Miami Beach (formerly known as the Versace Mansion).
