Description
Museum worthy and Original! Rare Stevens and Brown 'Boy on Mechanical Gig with Galloping Horse' Circa 1880; likely one of the best conditions existing. In the world of American tin toys, this is an absolute treasure and museum worthy survivor which features a fully dressed boy in patriotic red, white, and blue with fringed jacket. The incredible condition horse is all original and spectacular for a 145 year old toy. Horse was hand painted and wrought at Stevens and Brown of Connecticut. Extensive and expert fine detailing and hand painting on the boy's eyes and facial features. Clothing original with age and holes. The horse undulates up and down as the front wheel rolls, galloping forward. The mechanics move the gig forward in a "S" path serpentine motion on the floor. 15.5" long and 10.25" high approx.
