Description
Tin Windup Delahane Open Touring sedan in Largest Size, likely by Pinard of France. This is an extremely difficult toy to find, as it is the largest in a flight of three cars offered circa 1918. There may not be another surviving example. Attributed to Pinard, but we have seen it also J.E.P. of France. Hand wrought in tin. Reference Francois Theimer French Toy Guide book. Our Tonneau was expertly restored years ago, with working doors, windup, lift up convertible top, and headlights. The toy sets itself at the top of the toy collecting mountain with its brass windup, streamlined radiator, body lines; and detailing like spare tire, horn, brake, right hand drive, engine crank, and rubber tires. Aged leather straps, canvas, and rubber straps, otherwise very good to excellent restored condition. Approximately 19" long. Retail price in 1914 would have been 21 Franc, quite a luxury!Extremely hard to find!
