Large full room size hand knotted Persian rug. Purchased from Peykar in New York. The very center of the rug has a cream color sunburst surrounded by red medallion accented with floral and leaf designs in multiple colors. This design is set within the large black flourished oval medallion which dominates the design. The large medallion is set within six borders; the one touching and surrounding the medallion is cream with multi color florals and leafy vines; the second is thin and has small blooms connected with scrolling vines; the third has larger blooms in a border of cream connected by vines; the larger fourth has a red background with bright floral bloom designs in an elaborate pattern; the fifth and sixth are reminiscent of the second and third; the final border is black with no pattern.
