Description

1994 BMW E34 M5 Chassis no. WBSHC91040GD63949 • Full up-to-date service history • Alcantara interior • 63,969 kilometres • 'Nürburgring Fahrwerk' optioned from new * Please note that this car will be available for viewing by prior appointment in Germany. Introduced for the 1989 model year, the E34 M5 saloon was the first body style iteration of the model, to be followed later by the touring/estate version. Initially powered by the impressively potent 311bhp 'S38B36' 3.6L V8 engine, the levels of performance on offer reached previously unexplored levels with the introduction in 1992 of the fire-breathing 335hp 'S38B38' 3.8L V8 variant for European markets. For the last year of the E34 M5's production - 1996 - a 6-speed manual gearbox was introduced to supersede the previous 5-speed manual 'box. BMW continued production of the E34 M5 until 1995, when the next generation E39 BMW M5 was ushered in. Considered by many M5 aficionados to be the best of the breed, and perhaps more engaging than some of its admittedly even faster and more sophisticated successors, the E34 variant is now highly sought-after by enthusiasts. This example benefits from having been optioned from new with the desirable 'Nürburgring Fahrwerk' package, which consisted (among other things) of wider rear wheels, an upgraded anti-roll bar, ZF Servotronic power steering and an EDC switch enabling the dampers to be set to optimal stiffness. It also comes with the very rare - fewer than 5% of E34 M5s – option of an Alcantara interior, a sunroof, and its original radio. The Sterling Silver (244) car was delivered new on the 01/03/1994 to BMW in Munich for use as a press car. It was later sold to its second owner, a University of Munich Professor. The third owner, a gentleman from Fürth, sold the car to the current vendor in 2020. The car has never left Germany, has a full and up-to-date service history, and comes with its original German registration documents. Prior to the sale, the car has received a complete dry ice cleaning of the underside, a complete detailing with a wax protection applied and a complete ceramic coating.
