Description
Ormolu Mounted Biscuit Porcelain Bust of Paul I, circa 1870. Likely made by Russian Imperial Porcelain Factory (Lomonosov). Bust modeled after sculpture by August Spiess. Bronze base with 3 part biscuit column, pedestal, and bust held together with threaded rod. Measures 20" tall and 8x7" wide. Some flower petals on base and pedestal connector broken and missing, small chip to bust base on left side, gilt worn off of bronze base, threaded rod is loose with some play between components. Sevres style "B" mark at back of bust. Nearly identical to one sold in Christie's Russian Works Auction (Lot #235 Nov 2020). From the Estate of Russian-American author, actress and a WWII sniper Kyra Petrovskaya Wayne.
