Description
Two antique porcelain German regimental beer steins with pewter lids. The first, commemorating a musket unit from Stuttgart in service from 1908-1910, features a finial depicting a soldier in full service dress lifting a stein in toast. Measures approximately 13 1/2" in height with a base 4" in diameter. This piece is in excellent condition. The second, personally inscribed to a Andreas Hornberger, commemorating his time in the Third Bavarian Pioneer Battalion, Second Company, from 1909-1911, features a finial depicting a steam locomotive engine. Lithophane present at the the bottom of the stein. bottomv Measures approximately 10 1/2" in height with a base 4 1/4" in diameter. This piece shows a fair degree of wear to the painted images and text but is by and large still in fine shape. The pewter lids on both exhibit patina consistent with their age.
