SOUTH INDIAN BRASS HORSE HEAD BELONGING TO A VAHANA, Late 19th century. Impressive patinated brass made to a Vahana horse bust (Vahana is the vehicle of Shiva in the Madrai veeran pose). Bust has a movable tongue. It is presented on a purpose made wooden base. Consignor acquired it in India in 1980s. - Height bronze bust: 10 inches; Artifact with stand: 14.25 inches.
