The cartoon bears two preliminary titles that have been crossed out: "Good New-Years resolution, or the re(dis)organization of the Democratic Party" and "We Cant have any more federal 'spoils' therefore [last words illegible]." In the background are two signs, one pointing to "Tammany Hall" to the left and the other pointing to "U.S. Senate" to the right. Two figures appear in the foreground, shaking hands: an ill-groomed man with a liquor bottle in his pocket who has come from Tammany Hall and a distinguished, frock-coated man emerging from the Senate.Source: Sotheby's auction catalog, New York, October 31, 1984.
