A 1969 holiday card signed by Queen Elizabeth II "Lilibet" and Prince Philip, the image at the interior is a photograph of the royal family taken on board the royal yacht Britannia, includes: Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward.
The exterior of the card has a raised gold stamp of Queen Elizabeth II's royal crest and Prince Phillip's royal crest. The card reads, "WITH BEST WISHES FOR CHRISTMAS AND THE COMING YEAR," with signatures "Lilibet" (Lilibet was Queen Elizabeth's nickname that originated from her childhood) and Philip, dated 1969.
The card comes from the estate of Marion Thorpe, maiden name Stein, who was a concert pianist who married George Lascelles, the 7th Earl of Harewood in 1949 becoming the Countess of Harewood. Queen Elizabeth II was Earl Harewood’s first cousin and attended the wedding. During her marriage to the Earl of Harewood, Queen Elizabeth II and the countess became close friends. The couple divorced in 1967 and Marion remarried politician Jeremy Thorpe. Marion’s son David Lascelles is the current 8th Earl of Harewood.
