Description
The hero chronometer prop as used in the film The Time Machine (Dreamworks, 2002).
This prop is made of brass dials engraved with numbers and abbreviated months, metal rods and gears, rubber bands, gearhead motors, and electrical wiring. The dials are wired and motorized to rotate.
Included with the hero prop is a set of additional prop components including a large metal gear painted in gold-tone, medium and small resin gears painted in gold-tone, a brass rod with multiple screws and threaded ports, and a grooved brass plate. A selection of numbered wire labels and a small piece of metal have separated from the hero prop and are present in a plastic bag.
The chronometer is the featured console in the time machine that indicates where in time inventor Alexander Hartdegen (Guy Pearce) has traveled. It is primarily seen when he arrives in the various time periods he visits throughout the film - 1899, 2030, 2037, 802701, and 746538921.
