Brockbanks & Atkins Eight Day Marine Chronometer The three-tier mahogany box with applied boss label, brass mounts and flush recessed carrying handles, lacquered brass gimbals and bowl. Silvered dial with Roman numerals and engraved Brockbank & Atkins, London. No. 1315 within seconds bit, eight-day "Up-Down" indicator, outer minutes dial with five minute intermarkers, gold hour and minute hands, subsidiary seconds and up-and-down dials with blued steel hands. The top with brass inset engraved H. G. CHESTERMAN. Maker's embossed plaque to front, enameled with Brockbank & Atkinds, / London. No. 1315. The inner upper lid with original paper label and paper tag label, behind glass. Late 19th Century. {Approximate dimensions: 8" H. x 7 1/2" W. x 7 3/4" D.}. Shrinkage and losses to left side of manufacturer's label. Patina to metal surfaces of case. Some patina to face under glass. Functionality not tested by Michaan's.
