Item Details
Description
Original Section of New York Central 20th Century Limited Red Carpet Original section of New York Central 20th Century Limited red carpet! This is another of those special peices that evokes the style and class that the New York Central used for their flagship train. The use of red carpet is heavily tied to the history of the railroads and transportation in general. The railroad's use of red carpet is believed to predate Hollywood's use for premiers and other special events. So when the phrase, "Rolling out the red carpet" was coined, it really was tied directly to the railroads. This section of carpet measures 70" x 76" and features the 20th Century Limited herald against a striking red background. The carpet is all original and shows some dirt, mild staining, etc. All things that would be typical of daily use. There is no notable damage or repairs, and the carpet has been well cared for since its' retirement from railroad use.We believe that this carpet could clean to look better than it already does, but we'll leave that decision up to the next caretaker.
