The artist began painting his Paris street scenes in the late 1950s and, like Cortés, he often painted the same Paris monument many times, in different weather conditions or in different seasons. The most recurring themes were the views of the capital city on cloudy or rainy days, showing streets full of pedestrians hurrying home and bright storefronts reflecting on the wet streets. Many of the art galleries in New Orleans' French Quarter display paintings and prints by Antoine Blanchard, as this American city has a strong French history.
