Two Folk Art Carved Priming Horns and Two Stone Bullet Molds
Both horns measure 7.75" in length with wood base plugs retained by iron tacks, and come with wood stoppers. Bullet molds appear to be composed of black soapstone with wood pegs aligning the halves. Horns show light border scrollwork with one horn engraved with the date DEC 4th 1830 above a palm tree within a circle. The other horn features a floral design likely produced using a compass. One of the bullet molds is initialed AIS on one side, with the other unmarked. he former features molds for ten bullets of .50, 45, 38, and 28 caliber. The non initialed mold can cast two .60 caliber and nine .25 caliber balls.
Condition
Good. Items range from Good to Very Good condition. Both horns show some scuffs, stains, and abrasions, with a chip to the lower edge of one horn. Both bullet molds have some lead residue, and the initialed mold has split through the lid, and been repaired with lead.
