Roger Crisanto, vintage biomorphic abstract ceramic vase, 1990s, signed on the bottom "R.Crisanto / Chulucanas / Peru." Each vase created by Crisanto is an unique artwork.

The vase is c.9.1/4" tall [23.5cm]; c.5.3/4" at widest [14.5cm]; a few surface imperfections due to the firing techniques, no chips, no hairlines, very good condition.

Roger Crisanto, a Peruvian ceramic artist, experiments in the traditional techniques of his native Chulucanas, the area known for the centuries old unique ceramic tradition. The colored background is produced by painting after an initial firing, then exposing the paint to the fire and allowing some to burn off. The black color is the result of smoking the piece in a kiln filled with mango leaves.
