Ellen Martin was daughter of Carrie Graves who is a prominent self taught artist. Ellen died at the age of 44. She sold mainly to the same collectors and dealers through out her pottery making life and set up at a few folk festivals with her wares. Her pieces produced number into the high hundreds maybe pushing into the 1000 mark - but that's it. Most active folk potters will produce 10,000 plus pieces in a 20 year time, firing 200 to 300 every kiln load. Not Ellen as her life was cut short. While we do gather a few for every folk art event we have (4x each year) they are very scarce.
