Description
by Shang, Canton and Hong Kong, retailed by Cum Shing, Canton, c.1900, comprising a teapot, milk jug, twin-handled sugar bowl and a pair of sugar tongs, each of globular form upon a tapering collet foot, the teapot with a curbed spout and C-scroll handle modelled as bamboo, the handle fitted with ivory insulators, the hinged slightly domed lid surmounted by a detachable finial modelled as bamboo, the bodies with embossed decoration of a trailing Chinese dragon, with a vacant circular cartouche, the milk and sugar with a gilt interior, each marked underneath with an artisan mark and retailer’s mark CS, sugar tongs with the artisan mark only, in an original fitted wooden case.
