Autographed book titled "Songs From "This Is The Army"" 1942 by Irving Berlin (1888-1989) American composer and lyricist. Book features music from "This is the Army" production and presents a leatherette cover with gilt title. Contents are 55pp with book measuring 12.25" x 9.25". Book is missing front flyleaf and presents ink inscription on first page "To Mousie with all good wishes from Irving Berlin, Rome, June 29, 1944". Cover exhibits some slight abrasions and dryness. On June 4, 1944 Rome fell to Allied forces and several days later "This is the Army" with Irving Berlin, that had been touring the European theater of war performed in Rome for the first time. This important autographed book is a document of the seminal event in entertainment of the troops in the European theater of war.
