Two Mechanical Banks, America, late 19th century. Assembled group includes one c. 1880 kicking horse bank mounted on a slotted base impressed with inscription 'ALWAYS DID 'SPISE A MULE', a variation on the toy patented by James H. Bowen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 22 April 1879; and one 'TRICK DOG' bank with dog jumping through hoop held by clown, (mule bank) lg. 10, dp. 2 3/4, ht. 6 in.
