Description
1760 BIRDS 1ed Ornithology Animal Science Illustrated Brisson Oiseaux PLATES
Mathurin-Jacques Brisson was as an 18th-century French scientist who wrote numerous works on zoology, physics, and chemistry. One of his best works was his Ornithology – a study of species, varieties, and orders of birds. In fact, this work is considered to be one of, if not the very best 18th-century surveys of ornithology! While this example contains only the first volume, the first volume is the most important as it contains the extensive lot of folding engravings! It also contains both Latin and French languages in parallel columns.
Note that a 2010 Christies auction realized this work at $30,000! An exceedingly high value for an incredible work!
