Ancient Egypt, New Kingdom, end of the 18th Dynasty, ca. 1319 to 1292 BCE. An impressive terracotta mold bearing the birth name of Horemheb (also Horemhab or Haremhab), the last pharaoh of the 18th Dynasty of Egypt who brought stability after the turmoil of Akhenaten's reign. The birth name of Horemheb was Horemheb Meryamun, which means "Horus is in Jubilation, Beloved of Amun," while his throne name was Djeserkheperure Setepenre, meaning "Sacred are the manifestations of Ra." Commander and chief of the army under the reigns of Tutankhamun and Ay, Horemheb was of common birth and had no relation to the proceeding royal family. He acceded to the throne via his marriage to Mutnedjmet, who is believed to have been the daughter of his predecessor Ay. Custom puddy impression included. Size: 1.1" W x 1.25" H (2.8 cm x 3.2 cm)
