ATTRIBUTION: Ed Pointer, American (1932-2021)
DESCRIPTION: This lot is an original watercolor painting by noted and listed Kansas artist, Ed Pointer. The artist has stylistically rendered a dock-side boat house and bait shop with three sail boats gliding by in the foreground water in a style steeped in the 1950s.
CONDITION: The painting has been framed with an appropriate molded wood frame that appears to have been custom made by the artist. It is extremely heavy - total weight is over 20 lbs.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Do not over-expose to direct light.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Ed Pointer (1932-2021) was creative in more than one circle. He is hugely famous for the graphic work he created for Pizza Hut, including the iconic Pizza Pete which was Ed’s idea and design! He also created graphic and packaging for the new iteration of Vornado fans, and for Big Cheese Pizza. A prolific fine artist, Ed painted in a semi abstract style that resonated with collectors in Kansas, painting the Flint Hills, special commissions for the oil and gas industry, and collecting important arts awards along the way while exhibiting with dear and renowned friends Hugh Greer and Wilbur Elsea. His work is included in important corporate and private collections including WAM (Wichita Art Museum), Mark Arts, and Emprise Bank. He won many awards over the years in regional competitions, most notably in the Kansas Watercolor Society’s Annual Great 8 Exhibition, a juried show covering an eight-state area.
