Description
John Morin Scott (1730-1784) Rev War General, Politician. Scott was a founding member of the Sons of Liberty and was a member of the New York General Committee. During the Revolutionary War, he was a member of the New York Provincial Congress (from 1775 to 1777), while also serving as a brigadier general under George Washington in the New York and New Jersey campaign. He commanded the 1st New York Battalion, the 2nd New York Battalion, and several New York Militia Regiments. He fought with Putnam's division at the Battle of Brooklyn.3 ½” x 1 ¾” signature cut from the conclusion of an autograph letter signed, tipped to a 43/4” x 3 ¼” card.
