Size: 4.5'' x 15'', 11 x 38 cm (sight); 11.75'' x 22.25'', 30 x 57 cm (frame). Provenance: The Robert L. Pfannebecker Collection. Artist Biography: Hasmig Vartanian was born in Haifa, Israel of Armenian descent and grew up in Beirut, Lebanon. She immigrated with her parents to the United States, where they lived in Philadelphia, PA. and later Racine, Wisconsin, where she completed high school in 1964. In 1973 she began studies in art at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where she earned her bachelors in fiber art in 1977 and an MFA degree in painting from Washington State University (Pullman,WA) in 1980. After graduation she moved briefly to Houston,Texas and then to Louisiana. She currently lives and works in her studio in Covington,LA and is adjunct instructor in drawing at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA.
