Description
Op Art, "Bamboo Split Square", made in November of 1979. Signed lower right, titled on verso. Opaque pastel color piece intensified into a brilliance against a black background in the top area, while the clear colors become saturated against white in the bottom area. Dimensionally constructed center box has hand polished and painted clear trapezoid prisms mounted into position over a painted background. As the spectator moves laterally, refraction causes one set of colors and patterns to wipe out as a second and third set appears. Apprx 48-1/2" x 48-1/2" x 3". Wired for hanging. With wall bumpers.
Condition: Some paint and embedded soils at upper right frame seam, small crack to white plaxi frame and clear acrylic at lower right corner (as pictured), tiny soil spots on front surface.
